From Brooklyn Roots to Navy Chief to Entrepreneur — A Journey of Leadership, Resilience, and Purpose.
I'm Dr. Princess M. Russell, the proud Founder and Owner of ZōGia Salon Suites.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I learned early that determination, hard work, and a little grit can take you places you never imagined.
That foundation carried me through an extraordinary 22-year career in the United States Navy, where I proudly served and retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer, a senior enlisted leader. My military service shaped who I am today, instilling the values of integrity, accountability, perseverance, and service to others.
Beyond my military career, I've spent more than 15 years working in civil rights, regulatory compliance, and organizational leadership, advocating for fairness, developing people, and helping organizations achieve meaningful results.
Along the way, I earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership (Ed.D.).
But no amount of education, professional experience, or military training could have fully prepared me for the adventure of entrepreneurship!
The Vision Behind ZōGia
When I envisioned ZōGia Salon Suites, I wanted to create more than a place where beauty professionals rent rooms.
I envisioned a luxury environment where independent professionals could feel empowered, confident, and proud to welcome their clients. A place where creativity meets opportunity and entrepreneurs have the freedom to build businesses that reflect their individual talents and aspirations.
That vision became ZōGia Salon Suites, an upscale facility featuring 18 thoughtfully designed private suites in the Peachtree Corners/Norcross area of Georgia.
Every detail, from the modern finishes to the inviting atmosphere, was created with one purpose: to offer beauty and wellness professionals an elevated space to call their own.
The Journey Hasn't Been Easy
I've led teams, navigated complex challenges, managed difficult situations, and served more than two decades in the military.
But building ZōGia has challenged me in ways I never anticipated.
There have been construction setbacks, financial sacrifices, unexpected obstacles, difficult decisions, and moments when I've questioned just how much more I could handle.
And yes, there have been a few moments when this Brooklyn girl and retired Navy Chief had to remind herself, "You've been through tough situations before. You can get through this one, too!"
Entrepreneurship has taught me that resilience isn't about never encountering setbacks. It's about how you respond when things don't go according to plan.
My journey hasn't been perfect, and I don't pretend otherwise. But every challenge has reinforced the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and believing in the vision that started it all.
Behind the beauty of ZōGia is a story of sacrifice, determination, and an unwavering commitment to creating something meaningful.
So, Where Did the Name ZōGia Come From?
I'm glad you asked! 🐾
Believe it or not, the inspiration behind the name has four paws, wagging tails, and a very special place in my heart.
ZōGia is a combination of the names of my two beloved dogs, Zoe and Gia, affectionately known as my fur heartbeats.
I wanted a business name that was distinctive, personal, and meaningful. And what better inspiration than two little companions who bring so much joy and unconditional love into my life?
Their names became the inspiration behind a brand that represents something incredibly special to me.
And yes, I know everyone has their own interpretation of how to pronounce ZōGia! That's become part of the fun!
More Than Suites. A Place to Grow.
I understand firsthand what it means to invest your time, resources, and heart into building a business.
That's why I want every professional who chooses ZōGia to feel that their ambitions matter.
Whether you're an experienced beauty professional seeking a more sophisticated environment or an emerging entrepreneur ready to establish your own space, my goal is to provide an atmosphere that supports your independence and reflects the professionalism of your brand.
At ZōGia, you are not simply renting a suite. You're creating a space for the business you've worked so hard to build.
My journey brought me here. I'd love for ZōGia to become part of yours.
